History
St. Mary Mystical Rose began its lifelong commitment to God, and to the Catholic family of Armada on November 20, 1946 when Edward Cardinal Mooney assigned Father Francis Sysol to establish this parish. During the last month of 1946, three baptisms and a wedding ceremony were performed by Father Sysol. Father proceeded to purchase a parcel of land and accepted a donation of additional land for the construction of the church building and rectory. The cost of the project was estimated to be $64,000. Father Sysol led the first celebration of mass on Sunday, July 6, 1947 in the Armada Township Hall. On August 24, 1947 ground was broken to start the construction of the church and rectory. The first mass in the new church building was on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948.
